New Books

We gave birth to triplets this past month! Four new information booklets, which we hope will be of use to people with CP, their friends, family and caregivers.

What are their names, you ask? Sexuality and Cerebral Palsy, Aging and Cerebral Palsy, Personal Choice and Cerebral Palsy, and Medical Issues and Cerebral Palsy. The booklets (approximately 25 pages each, including a few references) are spiral-bound to stay open easily, and small enough to carry with you, wherever you go! The information is presented in an easy-to-read and straightforward manner.

CP affects different people in different ways, but we hope these booklets will provide readers with practical information, useful in their daily lives. Because we could not cover every aspect of every individual's experience with the disability, we hope that these booklets become a good starting point for people who deal with CP every day. After all, sexuality, aging and dealing with health professionals are issues that all of us have in common - although some of us may need to be more creative and resourceful getting our needs met.

Because very little research has been done on how people with CP age, Aging provides practical tips and ideas about such things as minimizing stress, coping with day-to-day tasks, and the importance of such things as exercise and nutrition, among other things.

Medical Issues provides information on potential concerns people with CP may have when seeking medical attention, and how to best address those concerns. How do you find a good health practitioner? What kinds of questions should you ask him or her? What kinds of questions should you ask yourself, to know if you need the help of medical practitioner?

There is nothing simpler than the concept of personal choice, or more complicated. Like a complex system of roads, the process of making choices and decisions can lead down many paths to many different results.
